Question:
I have multiple network cards (NICs) in my machine. Will Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) take advantage of them? How does Acronis Files Connect work with multiple IP interfaces?
Answer:
Acronis Files Connect will make use of all NICs that are configured for TCP/IP, including Remote Access Service (RAS) or VPN connections. When a Macintosh client connects, the server responds with all available IP addresses. Typically, the client will choose an address that is on the same subnet, but if none is, it will choose the first in the list. If you run into problems with specific clients, you may need to connect by entering the IP address of the machine instead.
Notes:
- If you want to force Acronis Files Connect to only listen on a single IP address you can use the IPAddress Registry key. More information about this can be found in the online help.
- If you are using Acronis Files Connect 5.2 and later on a cluster in active/active mode it will listen on all IP addresses in its cluster group. (Each of the IP Address resources should be listed as dependencies of the network name resource.)
- If you are using any version of Acronis Files Connect prior to 5.2 on a cluster in active/active mode it will only listen on the first address in its cluster group.
