Group Logic's AppleTalk protocol is now compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008. While Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) is compatible with Windows Server 2012 Standard & Enterprise, GroupLogic AppleTalk is not supported on Windows Server 2012.
Beginning with Acronis Files Connect File and Print Server 5.3, Group Logic's AppleTalk protocol is included for optional installation with all versions of Acronis Files Connect. For installation instructions, please see the documentation in the "AppleTalk" directory located in your Acronis Files Connect program directory. Typically located at: C:\Program Files\Group Logic\ExtremeZ-IP\AppleTalk\
Group Logic also offers the AppleTalk protocol bundled with OEM versions of our Macintosh file and print server solutions, Acronis Files Connect File Server and Acronis Files Connect Print Server.
For the desktop versions of Windows, these solutions fill the gap left by Microsoft's removal of the AppleTalk protocol from the Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista Professional versions of the Windows operating system as explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305989
For the server versions of Windows, these solutions fill the gap left by Microsoft's removal of the AppleTalk protocol and the entire Services for Macintosh (SFM) file server and Print Services for Macintosh (PSFM) print server solution from Windows 2008 Server formerly Windows Longhorn Server as explained at following URL. Note that the AppleTalk protocol is a component of the SFM suite.
Group Logic's solution delivers the AppleTalk protocol, Bonjour discovery and other important cross platform features that make it invaluable for software vendors that need AppleTalk and Macintosh connectivity to Windows. Acronis Files Connect is the only solution on the market that fully integrates both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 with Windows file servers and print servers. Acronis Files Connect provides all of the functionality that Mac users expect as well as integration to Windows technologies such as Active Directory.
