36643: Acronis Snap Deploy 4: Created Master Image from Linux Bootable Media Is Bigger Than Expected

When creating a master image using Linux bootable media, the size of created image is bigger than expected - the image is created in sector-by-sector mode. This issue occurs only, when using Windows Drive Management tool to resize partitions before.

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Snap Deploy 4.0


  1. You have a machine where you did changes in partition size using Windows Drive Management;
  2. You boot this machine using Acronis Bootable Media (Linux, not WinPE);
  3. You create a new master image;

The size of created master image is similar the source partitions or disks.


  • Partition size is about 70 GB
  • Occupied space is about 23 GB

Using Linux boot media, you get an image about 60 GB size.

(!) WinPE based bootable media and Windows Snap Deploy Image Creator is not affected.


This is a known issue in product.


You can work around by using image creator based on WinPE or Windows.
