Switch to fast cataloging or use locally created vaults
Symptoms
After a backup operation is completed, cataloging operation of a vault on a network share takes significant time to be completed and consumes the machine's resources.
Cause
This is expected behavior.
To perform cataloging of the archive, the archive's file system has to be mounted and browsed. Mounting and browsing the file system of a large archive on a network share can take considerable time and will cause the consumption of system resources.
Solution
There are two possible workarounds available:
- Switch to fast cataloging. Please refer to Web Help: Backup cataloging.
- Place the vault on a locally attached storage.
