After deleting a centralized managed vault on tape, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 will fail to recreate it
This article applies to:
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition
Symptoms
- You connect Acronis Management Console to Acronis Management Server;
- Once connected, you click Vaults -> Centralized, right-click a vault on tape and select to delete it:
- After the vault is deleted, you try to recreate it on the same tape. The operation fails with the following error message:
The selected folder already contains a managed vault. Use
the attach procedure to enable this storage node to
manage the vault.
Cause
When you delete a vault, the product asks whether you want to delete the archives in it as well:
Clicking No will delete the archives. With the archives deleted, you will be able to recreate the vault on the tape by clicking Create.
Clicking Yes will keep the archives. With the archives still on the tape, you will not be able to recreate the vault on the tape. But you will be able to re-attach it by clicking Attach.
A centralized vault can be created only on empty media. If the media is not empty, you need to attach the vault.
Solution
If you delete the archives on the tape, you can recreate the vault.
If you do not delete the archives on the tape, you can attach the vault.
Sample scenario 1
- You choose to delete the vault and click Yes, when asked whether to keep the archives or not:
- You can then re-add the vault by clicking Attach:
Sample scenario 2
- You choose to delete the vault and click No, when asked whether to keep the archives or not:
- You can then recreate the vault on the same media by clicking Create:
