How to move an activated True Image 2013 by Acronis license to a different machine

Introduction

In some cases it may be necessary to install your copy of True Image 2013 by Acronis to another machine.

One serial number allows you to install True Image 2013 on a limited number of computers. The Standard edition of the product can be activated on 1 computer only. For the Family Pack edition the limit is 3 computers.

If during activation True Image 2013 detects that the limit is exceeded, it displays the following error message:

Too many activations

You may receive this error message in the following cases:

1. You exceed the limit of available activations. For example, you have a Standard edition and attempt to install True Image 2013 on more than 1 machine;
2. You reinstall or upgrade your operating system;
3. You upgrade your machine with new hardware;
4. You replace your machine with a new one.

In such a case you can either buy a new serial number or move the license to your new computer from another one on which the product is already activated. If you want to move the license, perform the steps from the Solution section of this article.

Solution

The process of transferring license to a new computer depends on whether the new machine is connected to the Internet. See appropriate section for instructions. 

If the new computer is connected to the Internet

1. Install Acronis True Image on new machine. Go to Help -> Activate:
   
2. In the prompt that appears ("Too many activations") select Move license:

   

3. You will be forwarded to Acronis Activation website. Submit your login and password for your Acronis account (if you don’t have an account, click Create account to create it):

   

4. Choose computer from which you’d like to move your license (a list will be displayed):

   (!) The product will be deactivated on the selected computer.

   

5. Restart the product on your new computer to apply changes.

If the new computer is not connected to the Internet

1. Install Acronis True Image on new machine. Go to Help –> Activate:

   

2. In the prompt that appears ("Failed to connect to the Acronis activation server") select Activate from another computer:

   

3. Save your installation code to file:

   

4. Transfer the file to the computer which is connected to Internet; open Activation page and load the installation code from the file:

   

5. Select Move license;
6. Submit your login and password from your Acronis account (if you don’t have an account, click Create account to create it):

   

7. Choose computer from which you’d like to move your license (the list will be displayed).

8. Note your activation code or save it to a file:

   

9. Transfer the activation code to the new computer where True Image 2013 by Acronisis installed. Launch True Image 2013 by Acronis and go to Help-> Activate, then again select the option Activate from another computer. The program will display True Image 2013 by Acronis Activation window with installation code. Press Load from file to submit the activation code and press Activate:

   

You can always purchase an additional serial number of True Image 2013 by Acronis if you want to keep both copies activated.
