Instructions on how to install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 into an existing WinPE environment

Introduction
These are instructions on how to add Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 to an existing WinPE environment (without using Acronis WinPE Builder).

Solution
- Install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 on Windows 32 bit;
- Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed, as you will need it for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) 2007;
- Download and install BDD 2007;
- Download and install Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK);
- Copy the WinPE 2.0 files by issuing the following command (Start-Run -> cmd):
C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\copype.cmd x86 C:\WinPE
- Mount the boot.wim file in read-write mode:
C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Imagex.exe /mountrw C:\WinPE\ISO\Sources\boot.wim 1 C:\WinPE\mount
- Copy Acronis files:
From C:\Program Files\Acronis\WinPE\WinPE\Files to C:\WinPE\mount\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery copy the following files:
- TrueImage.exe
- trueimage_starter.exe
- f11.cfg
- kernel.dat
- ramdisk.dat
- bootwiz.bin
- ActiveRestoreEngine.dgl
- ActiveRestoreEngine64.dgl
- ActiveRestoreHdd.dgl

From C:\Program Files\Acronis\WinPE\WinPE\Files to C:\WinPE\mount\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms copy the following files:
- mms.exe
- mms.config
- ASZReleaserAddon.dll
- LicenseAddonATIE10.dll
- DiskBundle.dll
- DiskBundleEx.dll
- MachineInstanceProvider.dll
From C:\Program Files\Acronis\WinPE\WinPE\Files\Drivers\Microsoft.VC80.CRT to C:\WinPE\mount\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\mms copy the following files:
- Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
- msvcm80.dll
- msvcp80.dll
- msvcr80.dll
From C:\Program Files\Acronis\WinPE\WinPE\Files to C:\WinPE\mount\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\a43 copy the following files:
- a43.exe
- a43.dat
- A43help.txt
- unrar.dll
From C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\SnapAPI to C:\WinPE\mount\Windows\system32\ copy the following file:
- snapapi.dll
From C:\Windows\system32 to C:\WinPE\mount\Windows\system32 copy the following files:
- msvcp71.dll
- msvcr71.dll
- ntmsapi.dll
From C:\Windows\system32\drivers to C:\WinPE\mount\Windows\system32\drivers copy the following file:
- snapman.sys
- Open Windows Registry Editor (Start-Run -> regedit) and do the following:
- Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and load the following hive (File -> Load hive):
C:\WinPE\mount\Windows\system32\config\software
- Once the hive is loaded, create the following registry keys and values:

- Unmount the boot.wim file:
C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Imagex.exe /unmount /commit C:\WinPE\mount
- Create the ISO image:
C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\oscdimg.exe -n -b"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\x86\boot\etfsboot.com" C:\WinPE\ISO C:\WinPE\test.iso
- Burn the ISO image. See Burning an ISO Image.
More information
After you boot from the ISO image, run TrueImage_starter.exe to start the product.
