Last update: 13-07-2017

Use SMTP server that supports the "DATA" command

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11

Symptoms

  1. You send a test e-mail notification;
  2. Message sending fails with error message

    Failed to send message from 'email1@domain1.com' to 'email2@domain2.com'

    and error code 0x014F0020+0x014F0015

Cause

SMTP server does not accept the 'DATA' command.

This error may also indicate that there is a problem with specified recipient addresses.

Solution

Check with your SMTP service provider if 'DATA' command is accepted by the SMTP server.

Check the address syntax for errors: e.g. user@domain.com.

Make sure you are not trying to send an e-mail from an anonymous user to an external e-mail address - most SMTP servers ban this.

Check that according to the SMTP server policy you can send e-mails from the specified From address using the specified account to the specified recipient.

You can also set up e-mail notifications using a different SMTP server, e.g. Gmail.
