The Acronis Scheduler services and/or process malfunction
This article applies to:
- Acronis True Image Home 2011
You start an operation from Tools & Utilities (i.e. Clone Disk, Create Acronis Secure Zone, Acronis Drive Cleanser, Backup conversion, etc.).
Then you receive the following error message:
Error Message: Failed to create the scheduled task
Error Code: 0x00640068+0x0009FFFF
The most frequent issue is that the Acronis Scheduler service and/or processes are not running properly. This service is responsible for executing Acronis tasks.

- First of all, please make sure the Acronis Scheduler2 Service is started and its Startup type is set to Automatic:
(!) If Windows does not boot in normal mode and you need to back up your machine, please boot from Acronis Bootable Media. (In Windows Safe mode the operation will not work because Acronis services will be unavailable).
- Make sure the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is Started and is Automatic:
Hit Start -> Run (or hit Win-R on the keyboard), and type in services.msc
If the service is not Started and Automatic, please make it so:
If steps 1 and 2 did not help you to solve the issue, try to run the required operation from Acronis Bootable Media.
