The issue has been fixed. Please update to the latest build. As a workaround, turn off UAC.
This article applies to:
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 11
- There is a machine with VMWare vSphere client installed, and User Account Control (UAC) is turned on;
- You attempt to install Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Management Console straight from MSI file;
- Installation of the Acronis Management Console fails with the following error message in the log:
1: MSIGEN:CommonError: code:11149337, message:, linetag:13024551282247281389, CommonError: code:65520, message:The system cannot find the file specified, linetag:13630423262120753340
CustomAction _USRCUSTACT_MsiVCPluginAcronisMCStarterPrepn_VCPluginAcronisMCStarter returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 13:35:38: _USRCUSTACT_MsiVCPluginAcronisMCStarterPrepn_VCPluginAcronisMCStarter. Return value 3.
Action ended 13:35:38: INSTALL. Return value 3.
This is a known issue. There is a special Custom Action invoked which is to install a plug-in for VMWare vSphere client, and UAC prevents several system calls to be made which leads to Acronis Management Console installation failure.
The issue has been fixed. Please update to the latest build.
As a workaround, temporarily disable UAC for the time of Management Console installation:
This issue appears only if the installation is performed using the MSI file (and only if VMWare vSphere client is installed on this machine). If you run the installation from the usual installation .exe package - the problem will not appear.
