Last update: 10-02-2011

Add "Launch and activation permissions" to the user under which Acronis Managed Machine Service runs or disable Windows Management Integration in Fujitsu Agent

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Workstation

Symptoms

  1. You have Fujitsu ServerView Agent for Windows installed on the machine;
  2. You install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for Windows;
  3. After installation of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10, in the Event Viewer -> System log there are error messages similar to the following ones:

    The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {AD289653-B5C5-11D2-88BB-00C095ECACC1} and APPID {9730B9A2-1CDF-11D2-950E-0000E817385C} to the user CONFIG509VM0\Acronis Agent User SID (S-1-5-21-3416711971-445773468-2295917039-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Cause

Issue in the product.

Solution

There are two possible workarounds:

Modifying security permissions

On the machine where the error appears, do the following:

  1. Download dcomfix.zip and extract the files inside.
  2. Check the user under whom the Acronis Managed Machine Service runs. If it runs under account other than Acronis Agent User, then please edit the batch file according to instructions inside the batch file.

    (To find under which user Acronis Managed Machine Service runs, hit Start-Run -> services.msc, find Acronis Managed Machine Service and look in Log on as column).

  3. Execute the batch file.

If you cannot or do not want to use the batch file, you can assign the necessary permissions manually:

Deactivate Windows Management Integration

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Components);
  2. Select Fujitsu ServerView Agent and click on Change;
  3. Deactivate Windows Management Integration.
