1784: Acronis Product Stops Working 30 Days after Entering Full Serial Number

  1. The product is installed with a full serial number;
  2. After the first period of 15 days usage of the product a warning message notifies that this is a trial version;
  3. After the second period of 15 days usage the product stops working with the message that the trial has expired or an error message similar to the following one:


A defective serial number was shipped with the product.


The defective serial number needs to be replaced. The product information in Windows Registry needs to be updated for further product usage.

Please follow the below directions to get the issue solved: 

  1. Check the serial number: 
    1. Log in your account at https://www.acronis.com/my/ 

      (!) If you do not have an account, please create one.

    2. Go to http://www.acronis.com/my/products/exchange/ 
    3. In the Serial number field enter the defective serial number. A new full serial number will be issued and automatically registered to your account; (!) If you have an edition with Acronis License Server, then you need to replace the defective serial numbers with the new full ones in Acronis License Server. If you have an edition without Acronis License Server, then proceed with the instructions below. 
    4. Download Acronis Registration Update utility; 
    5. Run the downloaded file. Select the product that stopped working properly (several products will be displayed if several installations are detected); 
    6. Submit the new serial number to the corresponding field. The registration information about the product will be updated in the system. The product will be recovered to fully functional state.
      (!) If this does not resolve the issue, please uninstall the product from Add/Remove Programs (Start -> Control Panel). Then install the product with the new full serial number. 

    You can repeat the procedure with all the detected products by selecting each product from the list and submitting its new serial number received from the mentioned web page.

  2. If checking the serial number returns the "The inserted serial number does not require replacement. Feel free to use it further with your product" message, then please do the following: 
    1. Get Windows System Information File from the machine with the issue; 
    2. Export from the same machine the following registry key: 
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\ (Start -> Run -> regedit, locate the key, right-click on it and choose Export)

      (!) If you have an edition with Acronis License Server, then please open it. Click Manage Used Licenses and create a screenshot of the window.
