How to consolidate backups manually and how to set up automatic consolidation
This article applies to:
- Acronis True Image Home 2011
Using consolidation you can merge several backup slices to create a consistent copy of the backup and delete the unnecessary backup versions.
Automatic consolidation in Acronis True Image Home can be set up for any backup task that creates incremental or differential backups (slices) regardless of the archive's storage place (except for removable media).
(!) Nonstop backup consolidates backups automatically using its own scheme. See Acronis Nonstop Backup Clean Up Rules.
You can consolidate backups manually or set up automatic consolidation for Custom version scheme.
You can also set up automatic consolidation: after the backup creation process is finished, the program will check for quota violations. If a quota violation is detected, Acronis True Image Home 2011 will perform the automatic consolidation of the oldest backups in the chain until quota is no longer violated.
(!) The quota must be exceeded so that quota violation can be detected, so it is possible that some backups may be exceeding the quota at a given moment.
