Description

Acronis Backup Server is a component of Acronis True Image Echo used for centralized storage and management of backup archives in a network.

To start using Acronis Backup Server you need to first install it on a Windows machine, and then connect to it with Acronis Management Console.

Once connected, pick the option Acronis Backup Server Management.

On the Acronis Backup Server Management window there will be a list of options:

  • Set up Administrator Profiles
  • Set up User Profiles
  • Configure Backup Locations
  • Manage Backup Archives
  • Specify Default Settings
  • Log Viewer

Set up Administrator Profiles

An Administrator Profile is the one you set up to keep images of a remote machine backed up with Acronis True Image Agent or with Acronis True Image Echo local version. Such images are kept locally on the same machine where Acronis Backup Server is installed. The exact folder to keep the images is specified under Backup Location.

The options you have for each Administrator Profile are:

  • Add - Add a new networked computer as Administrator Profile
  • Edit - Set a Backup Location, Quotas and Time Limits and time to Run the backups
  • Clear - Clear all archives from Backup Location
  • Delete - Delete the selected Administrator Profile

Sample scenario

  1. Install Acronis Backup Server, Acronis Management Console and Acronis True Image Agent on different machines in a network;
  2. Connect to Acronis True Image Agent with Acronis Management Console;
  3. Run the Backup wizard and on the Backup Archive Location window under Acronis Backup Servers select the machine where Acronis Backup Server is installed. Click Personal backup location;
  4. Specify the user name and password of the Windows administrator account of the machine where Acronis Backup Server is installed;
  5. Once the backup process starts, the administrator account will automatically be added to Administrator Profiles of Acronis Backup Server.

Set up User Profiles

A User Profile is the one you set up to keep images of a remote machine backed up locally with a local version of Acronis True Image Echo. Such images are kept locally on the same machine where Acronis Backup Server is installed. The exact folder to keep the images is specified under Backup Location.

The options you have for each User Profile are:

  • Add - Add a new local Windows user account as User Profile
  • Edit - Set a Backup Location, Quotas and Time Limits and time to Run the backups
  • Clear - Clear all archives from Backup Location
  • Delete - Delete the selected User Profile

  • Start the Backup wizard and on the Backup Archive Location window under Acronis Backup Servers select the machine where Acronis Backup Server is installed. Click Personal backup location;
