This is an issue with the Virtual Machine Manager (virt-manager)
This article applies to:
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (All Editions)
Symptoms
- You have a virtual machine in RHEV environment with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 installed;
- You activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager on the machine;
- You reboot the machine and press F11 at the machine startup to call Acronis Startup Recovery Manager;
- After pressing F11 the virtual machine continues to boot into the operating system. The attempt to boot into Acronis Startup Recovery Manager produces no result.
Cause
This is a KVM Virtual Machine Manager issue.
Solution
- As a workaround, do not use the Virtual Machine Manager (virt-manager) to launch the guest virtual machine - instead, call the virtual machine from the command line using QEMU:
- To run the virtual machine with default settings, specify a path to the virtual machine image hard disk image with the following command:
/usr/libexec/qemu-kvm –hda [image file] –hdb[image file] –hdc[image file]
- To run the virtual machine with custom parameters, refer to QEMU user guide for the list of commands and their syntax.
- To run the virtual machine with default settings, specify a path to the virtual machine image hard disk image with the following command:
- Use the third-party VNC client to display the guest virtual machine.
