How to create a dual boot system that has both Windows and Linux operating systems

Introduction

There are cases when you may need to create a dual boot system that has both Windows and Linux operating systems installed on the same machine. To do this, you can use Acronis OS Selector, which is a part of Acronis Disk Director Home.

Solution

Before installing Linux to the machine, where there is a Windows operating system, you need to create a separate partition for Linux. You can do this by means of Acronis Disk Director. Also you need to have Acronis OS Selector installed, which is a part of Acronis Disk Director Home.

After a separate partition is created, you can start installing Linux from a bootable CD with Linux distribution. After selecting the loader location, you may need to reactivate Acronis OS Selector.

When Linux is installed, Acronis OS Selector will automatically detect this new operating system and will create an icon for it in the boot menu.
