Description

If you want to migrate a domain controller to dissimilar hardware with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore, proceed as follows:

  1. Create a backup of your system with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10: the option Create snapshot using VSS should be active during backup. See Acronis Backup & Recovery 10: Backing Up and Restoring Domain Controller;
  2. Restore the backup to the new hardware using Acronis Universal Restore and adding new drivers. See Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore.
  3. Reboot the restored computer. Make sure that Active Directory service has started successfully.

If other domain controllers are available, replicating of Active Directory will be performed by the system automatically and the database will be updated with up-to-date records.
