Description

It is possible to install components from Advanced and Standalone versions of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 on the same machine.

The following components from Advanced and Standalone versions cannot be installed on the same machine:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent from Advanced version and from Standalone version;
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Standalone Management Console and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Management Console;

Sample scenario:

You have several licenses of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation and one license of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows. You want to install centralized management components (Acronis Storage Node, Acronis Management Server and Acronis Management Console) on a server and install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows on the same server, since you do not need remote management for the server itself.

Installation procedure in this case should be the following:

  1. Launch Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced installation file and install Acronis License Server:

  2. After installing Acronis License Server and adding licenses to it, press Install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10:

  3. Follow the wizard instructions and check the option Install the components that are available in all editions and do not require licenses

  4. On the next step select the centralized components that you want to install, e.g. Acronis Storage Node, Acronis Management Server and Acronis Management Console:

    Follow the wizard instructions for installation.

  5. Having installed all necessary centralized components from Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced, press Extract installation files:

  6. On the component selection screen select Agent for Windows (AcronisAgentWindows.msi) and Bootable Media Builder (AcronisBootableComponentsMediaBuilder.msi) if you want to be able to create Acronis Bootable Media:

    Specify path for extracting MSI files and press Extract.

  7. Launch the extracted AcronisAgentWindows.msi file. Follow the wizard instructions. On Licensing scheme page, select Install the component using a trial license key:

    (!) This option allows you to install a standalone version of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for Windows by specifying the serial number of Standalone version. For more information see Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Standalone: Extracted MSI File Prompts for Acronis License Server or Trial License Key.

  8. Specify the license key for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows:

    Follow the wizard instructions to complete the installation.

  9. If you want to install Acronis Bootable Media Builder, launch the extracted AcronisBootableComponentsMediaBuilder.msi and follow the wizard instructions. On Licensing scheme page, select Install the component using a trial license key ans provide the same serial number that you provided for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent installation.

(!) It is important to use MSI file to install Standalone Agent for Windows in this scenario. If you install Agent for Windows using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Standalone installation file in EXE format, the installer automatically installs all components of the Standalone version, including Standalone Management Console, which blocks remote connections of Acronis components to this machine.
