Last update: 02-04-2016

This has been fixed

This article applies to:

  1. You have Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced installed;
  2. You install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 on the same machine with Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced;
  3. After the installation, Acronis Disk Director 10 Advanced fails on local machine management:

    The Manage this machine option is grayed out:

    An attempt to manage the local machine fails with the following error message:

    Failed to establish local connection to Acronis Disk Management Service. Make sure that the service is installed and its status is Started.

This is a known issue.

Acronis Disk Management Service, an Acronis service that provides disk management, stops after the installation of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.

This has been fixed and the fix is available in the latest build of the product. See Installation of the latest update of an Acronis product.

To work around without installing the latest build, start Acronis Disk Management Service:

  1. Hit Start-Run and type in services.msc
  2. On the Services window, locate and start Acronis Disk Management Service:
