64-bit systems can only run on 64-bit-compatible hardware
Symptoms
- You restore an image of a 64-bit operating system to new hardware using Acronis Universal Restore;
- After restore, the computer does not boot with an error message similar to the following one:
Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode
Cause
Most probably you restored the image to hardware that is not 64-bit compatible. To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a 64-bit-capable processor. See How do I tell if my computer can run a 64-bit version of Windows?.
Solution
Restore the image to 64-bit-compatible hardware.
