14851: Acronis Universal Restore: 64-Bit Operating System Restored to a 32-Bit Hardware Fails To Boot

64-bit systems can only run on 64-bit-compatible hardware


  1. You restore an image of a 64-bit operating system to new hardware using Acronis Universal Restore;
  2. After restore, the computer does not boot with an error message similar to the following one:

    Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode


Most probably you restored the image to hardware that is not 64-bit compatible. To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a 64-bit-capable processor. See How do I tell if my computer can run a 64-bit version of Windows?.


Restore the image to 64-bit-compatible hardware.
