E-mail backup can only be restored to the same e-mail client
This article applies to:
- Acronis True Image Home 2011
This article describes how to restore e-mail backups.
You can restore e-mail backup on the same system or on a different system with a different user name.
(!) Restoration to a different e-mail client is not supported.
If the necessary backup is not present in the list of backups (for example if it was created using an earlier version of Acronis True Image Home), you need to browse for backup first and add it to the list of backups.
If the backup is present on the list of backups, do the following to restore an e-mail backup:
- Locate the necessary backup in the list of backups on the main screen and click Explore and recover:
- Select the items that you want to restore and click Recover:
If you have several backups, you can select the backup from the necessary date by pressing View versions or using the Time Explorer at the bottom of the window:
(!) If you restore e-mails to a new system, start the e-mail client at least once before the restore. This ensures that the client is properly initiated.
If you want to transfer your e-mails to a different e-mail client (e.g. move from Microsoft Outlook 2007 to Microsoft Outlook 2010), it is recommended to use the native Export/Import function of your e-mail program: please see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 287070.
