Introduction

This article describes how you can manually clear and recreate all Acronis Storage Node tasks, such as the indexing and compacting tasks.

The Acronis Storage Node tasks are stored in:

  • Acronis Scheduler;
  • In the following folders:
    • Windows 2000/XP/2003:

      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\TasksStorage

    • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2:

      C:\ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\TasksStorage

  • On the Acronis Management Server.

Solution

To clear and recreate the tasks, do the following:

  1. Invoke the Windows Services snap-in (Start-Run -> services.msc) and stop the Acronis Storage Node Service (right-click -> Stop);
  2. To clear the tasks from the Acronis Scheduler:
    • Launch schedmgr.exe located in the following folder:
      • Windows 32 bit:

        C:\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\

      • Windows 64 bit:

        C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\

    • Issue the following command in the command-line:

      task zap

      (!) This will remove the scheduling of all tasks, including backup tasks. They will have to be edited and rescheduled.

  3. To remove the tasks from the hard drive, delete the contents of the following folder:
    • Windows 2000/XP/2003:

      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\TasksStorage

    • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2:

      C:\ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\TasksStorage

  4. To remove the tasks from the Acronis Management Server:
    • Download the deleteasntasksbyname.zip script;
    • Extract the script to C:\
    • Open the command-line (Start-Run -> cmd);
    • Issue the following commands:

      cd /d c:\

      This will put you in the root of C:\

      delete_asn_tasks_by_name.vbs [NameOfAcronisStorageNode]

      where [NameOfAcronisStorageNode] is the name of the Acronis Storage Node (without square brackets) exactly as it is seen in the Acronis Management Server.

      You should see a message, saying that the tasks have been deleted successfully.

  5. Now start the Acronis Storage Node. The Acronis Storage Node will automatically recreate all tasks.
