10242: Acronis Backup & Recovery: Connection Errors Out with Error Code 0x00AD0003+0x00030422

Symptoms

  1. This error may appear in the following situations:
    • You are trying to connect to a remote or local machine with Acronis Backup & Recovery Agent
    • You are trying to connect to a remote or local machine with Acronis Backup & Recovery Management Server
    • You are trying to add Storage Node to Management Server
    • You are trying to add a machine to Management Server
  2. Connection errors out with the following message: Error: Failed to establish connection

     

    The required service on the remote machine is not started. Start the service and retry the connection.

Cause

There are two possible causes:

  • The required service is not started on the machine
  • The required service is started but it is not completely initialized yet.

Solution

  • Start the required service:
    • If you are trying to connect to a remote machine or trying to add a machine in Management Server: Acronis Managed Machine Service
      • To start this service, please download this tool here: mms_starter.zip
      • After downloading, just run the tool and choose OK.
    • If you are trying to add a Storage Node to Acronis Management Server: Acronis Storage Node
      • To start this service, please download this tool here: asn_starter.zip
      • After downloading, just run the tool and choose OK.
    • If you are trying to connect to Acronis Management Server: Acronis Management Server
      • To start this service, please download this tool here: ams_starter.zip
      • After downloading, just run the tool and choose OK.
  • If the required service is already started please wait 2-3 minutes after system start before making a connection attempt. This ensures that the necessary service has time to initialize properly.

    Acronis Managed Machine Service and Acronis Management Server services need some time to initialize and get ready for working with Acronis Backup and Recovery. Normally the service needs 10-15 seconds to start and initialize, but on some systems the startup may take longer, depending on the system configuration.

    Acronis Development Team is working on improving the Acronis Managed Machine Service performance to make it available sooner after system startup. A fix will be available in one of the future versions of Acronis Backup & Recovery.

  • (!) If the service stops a few seconds after you start it, it could be an emergency stop due to some problems. Please contact Acronis Customer Central and provide the required information to fix this problem.
