8810: Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange Crashes with MAPI 6.5.8153.0

This is an issue with MAPI 6.5.8153.0

This article applies to:

Symptoms

  1. You are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with MAPI 6.5.8153.0;

    You can find out the version of MAPI by doing the following:

    • On the machine with the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 go to:

      Windows 32 bit: \Program Files\ExchangeMapi\
      Windows 64 bit: \Program Files (x86)\ExchangeMapi\

    • Right-click on EXMAPI32.DLL and select Properties -> Details.
  2. Acronis Agent for Exchange crashes sporadically on the machine with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007;
  3. As a result, Acronis Management Console cannot connect to the Acronis Agent with the following error message:

    Acronis Network connection has been terminated

Cause

MAPI 6.5.8153.0 has a known issue that causes Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange to crash. This has been confirmed by Microsoft.

Solution

To resolve this issue, do the following:

1. Uninstall the existing Microsoft Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 build 6.5.8153.0 from Control Panel;

2. Download the latest build of Microsoft Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects from Microsoft website;

3. Install the downloaded package.
