Port and hostname that Acronis Internet Security Suite 2010 Antivirus needs to have access to

To be able to update its malware database, Acronis Internet Security Suite 2010 Antivirus needs to have access to the following port and hostname:

  • Hostname: av-update.acronis.com
  • Port: 80

You can check if the port and hostname are open in your network by issuing the telnet command. If they are accessible, you will see a blank screen after issuing the command:

telnet av-update.acronis.com 80

In Windows Vista and Windows 7 you may need to enable telnet first:

  • Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs;
  • Under Programs and features, click Turn Windows features on or off;
  • Tick off both Telnet Client and Telnet Server;
  • Click OK.
