Restore the system with Acronis Loader Bootable Media

This article applies to:

• All Acronis backup software

Symptoms

1. You restore a system backup from ISOLINUX Bootable Media (ISOLINUX is provided by Acronis Customer Central representatives in special cases);
2. After the restore, the system is unbootable. You have either a blank screen with a blinking cursor, or there is one of the following error messages on the screen:

A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Error loading operating system

Cause

Acronis Loader Bootable Media receives disk geometry information directly from BIOS. Hence, the product always has the correct information.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media, on the contrary, detects disk geometry on its own, not from BIOS. Hence, in some cases, the product may assign incorrect disk geometry, and as a result the restored system will be unbootable.

Restore your system backup using Acronis Loader Bootable Media, BartPE, or WinPE:

(!) It is strongly recommended to resort to ISOLINUX Bootable Media only if Acronis Loader Bootable Media does not work.
