Solution

As a workaround, do the following:

(!) This workaround will also affect the backup tasks schedule for other Acronis products like Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server or Acronis Recovery for Microsoft Exchange: the schedule will get reset for all the tasks.

  1. Revoke the backup policy from the Acronis Agents/Group which are failing to perform the backup or connect to the Acronis Agents directly and delete the current backup plan;
  2. Delete the contents of the TasksStorage folder on the machine where the Acronis Agent is installed, located at:
    • Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7: \ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\TasksStorage
    • Windows XP/2000/2003: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\TasksStorage
  3. Delete all scheduled tasks on the machine where the Acronis Agent is installed:
    • Browse to the installation folder, which by default is:
      • Windows 32 bit: \Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\
      • Windows 64 bit: \Program Files (x86)\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\
    • Run the schedmgr.exe file, and issue the following command:

      task zap

  4. Recreate the scheduled tasks.
