4925: Acronis Backup & Recovery 10: Moving Vaults on Acronis Management Server

If you need to move a vault, unregister it from Acronis Management Server, move the folder with the archives, and re-attach the vault

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition

Introduction

If you need to move vault from one place to another, please proceed as described below:

Solution

Moving a centralized unmanaged vault

  • In the Acronis Management Server, click Vaults -> Centralized;
  • Highlight the unmanaged vault that you are going to move and click Delete:

  • When asked if you want to keep the archives in the vault, click Yes:

  • Move the contents of the vault to a new location;
  • In the Acronis Management Server, click Vaults -> Centralized -> Create:

  • Create a new centralized unmanaged vault, and in the Path field select the new location to which you have moved the contents of the vault:

  • After clicking OK the vault will be recreated:

  • (!) If you have any scheduled tasks to this vault, you will have to edit those tasks and change the archive destination to point it to the new vault (Where to back up -> Archive -> Change). You will have to do this even if the new name corresponds to the old one.

Moving a centralized managed vault

Managed vaults have two paths:

  • Path for the backup files;
  • Path for the database file.

  • In the Acronis Management Server, click Vaults -> Centralized;
  • Highlight the managed vault that you are going to move and click Delete:

  • When asked if you want to keep the archives in the vault, click Yes:

  • Move both folders (backup path and database path) to a new location;
  • In the Acronis Management Server, click Centralized -> Vaults -> Attach:

  • In the Path and Database path fields provide the paths to the respective folders that you have moved to a new location:

  • After clicking OK the vault will be re-added to the Acronis Management Server:

  • (!) If you have any scheduled tasks to this vault, you will have to edit those tasks and change the archive destination to point it to the new vault (Where to back up -> Archive -> Change). You will have to do this even if the new name corresponds to the old one.
