Virtual Appliance: exclusions are specified with a forward slash. Windows Agent: exclusions are specified with a backslash

Description

There are two types of Acronis vmProtect installation: Virtual Appliance-based and Windows Agent-based. For details please see:

In Acronis vmProtect 6, the backup exclusion syntax is different for Virtual Appliance and Windows Agent. This has been fixed in Acronis vmProtect 7. Please see Upgrading to Acronis vmProtect 7.

(!) This is only valid for Windows guest operating systems. Linux guest operating systems always use the forward slash.

Virtual Appliance

Format:

  • C:/*
  • E:/RAWSR64/*

The exclusion for Virtual Appliance-based installation is provided with a forward slash.

The C:/* example will exclude all the contents of the C: drive.

The E:/RAWSR64/* example will exclude all the contents of E:\RAWSR64\ folder.

Windows Agent

Format:

  • C:\*
  • E:\RAWSR64\*

The exclusion for Windows Agent-based installation is provided with a backslash.

The C:\* example will exclude all the contents of the C: drive.

The E:\RAWSR64\* example will exclude all the contents of E:\RAWSR64\ folder.
