Introduction
Acronis Backup & Recovery Online is a subscription-based service. You need to renew your subscription before it expires to make sure that your important data is continuously backed up and you are able to access the online backup copy in case of a disaster.
Renewal process is easy and infrequent because all subscriptions are based on a one-year term.
This simple step-by-step how-to will guide you through the subscription renewal process.
Solution
Understanding when to renew
Acronis sends you a reminder email in 60, 30 and 7 days before your subscription expires. Additionally we recommend you to check subscription expiration date from time to time under My Account:
- Log in to your account;
- Click Online Backup -> Business;
- Look for the EXPIRES column on the Manage subscriptions tab:

Purchasing a renewal
To renew your subscription you will need to purchase a new serial number.
The renewed subscription can be of the same online storage capacity that you currently have or you can upgrade it to a bigger one.

There is no special "renewal" subscription or SKU. Renewing means purchasing a new serial number for online subscription from your reseller or online at the Acronis website.
Registering your new purchased serial number
- Once you have the new serial number for a subscription of your choice, register it under My Account:

- The subscription will appear under Available subscriptions on the Manage subscriptions tab:

- Once the serial number is registered, click the Renew link next to the subscription you want to renew:

- Now look for the EXPIRES column on the Manage subscriptions tab to make sure it has changed:

What happens if you do not renew the subscription
After the date when your subscription expires, you will still have 5 more days to perform backups to online. Then you will no longer be able to back up and you will be at risk of losing your data that has been changed since you were last able to back it up. But you will still have 25 more days to access your data in case you need to recover. After 30 days following the subscription expiration date, all your backups will be deleted from the online storage and you will not be able to recover from your online backups. This operation cannot be undone, so you need to make sure you renew your subscription in due time in order to keep your backups running and your data accessible in the cloud.
