Acronis Snap Deploy does not properly recognize Windows images with Bootmgr in the first sector of the partition

This article applies to:

Symptoms

  1. Using Acronis Snap Deploy, you are trying to deploy an image;

  2. When going through the Create Deployment Wizard, you point to the image to deploy. After the Target Partition Selection screen, the wizard jumps to Deployment Options, skipping the following options:

    • User Account Creation;
    • Computer Name;
    • Network Settings;
    • Security Identifiers;
    • Files to Transfer;
    • Applications to Run;
    • Acronis Universal Deploy.

Cause

There is Windows Vista Bootmgr in the first sector of the image that you are trying to deploy. Even if the Windows operating system is not Vista. The Vista Bootmgr can be in the first sector due to one of the following:

  • Windows Vista diskpart was used to partition the disk;
  • Windows Vista was installed on the disk and a different Windows system was later installed over it;
  • The system was previously deployed with Windows Deployment Services.

Solution

This has been fixed.

More information

The issue has already been fixed and the fix is available in the latest build of Acronis Snap Deploy 3. See Installation of the Latest Update of an Acronis Product.
