
Using Acronis True Image, you can transfer a system from IDE to SATA hard disk and vice versa

Introduction
Using Acronis True Image or Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0, you can transfer a system from IDE to SATA hard disk and vice versa. No special preparation or using Acronis Universal Restore is necessary.
Solution
Using the Clone Disk tool
Windows
- Run the product;
- In the main window of the program select the Clone Disk wizard;
- Proceed with all the steps of the wizard.
- (!) After the cloning completes, make sure you detach the old hard disk and keep the new (cloned) hard disk attached on the first system boot.
Acronis Bootable Media
- Boot from Acronis Bootable Media (see Standalone Version of Acronis Software);
- When booted, select Acronis True Image (full version);
- Select the Clone Disk wizard;
- Proceed with all the steps of the wizard.
- (!) After the cloning completes, make sure you detach the old hard disk and keep the new (cloned) hard disk attached on the first system boot.
Using the Back Up and Restore method
Windows, Acronis Bootable Media
- Run Acronis True Image (in Windows, or boot from Acronis Bootable Media);
- In the main window of the program select the Backup wizard;
- Back up the whole hard disk drive or a separate partition;
- Once the backup is done, restore the backup to the new drive.

When the cloning is done, you may need to switch the disk mode in BIOS. Please consult your manufacturer's user guide on how to do this in BIOS of your particular machine. See also AHCI Interface Support in Acronis Products.
