The utility removes Acronis True Image Home 2012 and its components from Windows

Introduction

Acronis True Image Home 2012 can be removed via Add or Remove programs (Start -> Control Panel) for Windows XP or Program and Features (Start -> Control Panel) for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

If the product fails to be removed using this way, then the special Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility can be used to uninstall it.

Solution

(!) If you have Windows 7 and Windows integration enabled to substitute the Windows Backup and Restore feature with Acronis True Image Home 2012 backups, please disable the integration in the product first. See Acronis True Image Home 2012: Windows Integration.

(!) If you have other Acronis products installed, the utility will damage their installation.

(!) Make sure Acronis True Image Home 2012 is closed, before starting with the Cleanup Utility.

  1. Download Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility and run it;
  2. Select 2:

    Despite the messages from the utility, it removes the Acronis Backup Archive Explorer automatically. No devcon.exe is necessary. So, the only option here is to press 2.

  3. Type in y and hit Enter:

  4. When asked to terminate Windows Explorer type in y and hit Enter:

  5. You will be also asked to reboot the system to complete the uninstallation. You can reboot the system later:

  6. (!) After using Cleanup Utility, it is strongly recommended not to reboot the machine, go to Start -> Run -> regedit, and verify that there are no snapman*, fltsrv, tdrpman*, vidsflt*, timounter strings in the following keys:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
