This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server SBS Edition
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Virtual Edition
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Workstation
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Server for Windows
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Workstation

Symptoms

  1. You create a backup task to create incremental backups and set the following parameters for retention rules:
    • Move backups if archive size exceeds certain size;
    • Consolidate backups if backup has dependencies;
  2. When the archive exceeds the specified size, backups are not moved till the next full backup is created;

Cause

This is current product behavior. In the described configuration backups will only be moved after a next full backup is created.

Solution

As a workaround, specify the conditions for moving backups based on archive age or archive size.
