21819: Acronis Backup & Recovery 11: Validation Fails if the Archive Name Contains Symbols "%" or "[ ]"

Do not use special symbols in archive names, except pre-set templates in the product

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11

Symptoms

  1. You create an archive with special symbols in the name, e.g. system[machine1];
  2. Backup operation completes successfully;
  3. Validation of this archive fails with the following error message:

    Either the backup file is corrupt or the file is not an Acronis backup

Cause

Issue in the product. Archive is not correctly processed if archive name contains % or [].

Solution

Rename the archive so that its name does not contain symbols [] and %.

(!) Standard name variables like [Plan Name] and [Machine Name] do not cause this issue.

Acronis Development Team is working on fixing this issue.
