Service databases and logs location in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11

Description

Centralized Managed Vault Database

This database contains information about managed vaults.

  • Database type: Firebird;
  • Database is managed by Acronis Storage Node;
  • One file per each vault is stored on Storage Node machine:
    • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\VaultMetadataDatabases
    • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\VaultMetadataDatabases

Centralized Unmanaged Vault Data

There is no unified database for the entire vault. Service information is stored in separate XML files in vault, one per each archive:

  • Type: XML;
  • Data files are managed by the respective Acronis Agents;
  • Data files are stored in unmanaged vault folder near TIB files, with same names as archives, one XML file for each archive.

Personal Vault Data

There is no unified database for the entire vault. Service information is stored in separate XML files in vault, one per each archive:

  • Type: XML;
  • Data files are managed by the respective Acronis Agents;
  • Data files files are stored in personal vault folder near TIB files, with same names as archives, one XML file for each archive.

Deduplication Database

This database stores information for mapping between hash values and appropriate data blocks in deduplication storage.

  • Database type: SQLite (Firebird for legacy vaults);
  • Database is managed by Acronis Storage Node;
  • Stored in the folder specified in Deduplication Database parameter. By default it is stored in the same folder with the vault data itself.

Catalog Database

This database contains data catalog index.

  • Database type: SQLite;
  • Managed by Acronis Storage Node / Acronis Management Server/ Agent;
  • Stored in the following locations:
    • Managed vault catalog is stored on Acronis Storage Node in separate folder for each vault in:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Catalog
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Catalog
    • Unmanaged vaults pointing to FTP and network share store a separate catalog database for each archive stored in [Vault Path]\Catalog folder and cache it locally;
    • Unmanaged personal vaults pointing to Tape store a catalog database locally in the following folder:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Catalog
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Catalog
    • Acronis Secure Zone catalog is stored on Acronis Secure Zone itself;
    • All other unmanaged vault catalogs are stored in [Vault Path]\Catalog.
    • Vault catalogs can also be found on the machine with Acronis Management Server:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\AMS\AMS\Catalog
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\AMS\AMS\Catalog

Tapes Database

This database contains information about tape devices, barcodes, labels, pools and other tape-related data;

  • Database type: SQLite;
  • Managed by: Acronis Storage Node (if centralized managed vault is created on tape) or Agent (if tape is attached locally);
  • Database file is stored in the following file (same path for Acronis Storage Node and Agent):
    • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ARSM\Database\arsm.sqlite
    • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ARSM\Database\arsm.sqlite

Acronis Management Server Database

This database contains information about archives, logs, reports and other management data.

  • Database type: SQL Express 2005 (by default);
  • Managed by Acronis Management Server;
  • Stored in SQL Express 2005 internal files.

DML Database

This database contains information on Acronis Management Server entities which were created/rewritten in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11: activities, alerts, backup plans, etc.

  • Managed by Agent/Acronis Management Server;
  • Stored in the following folders:
    • Acronis Management Server:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\AMS\dml_objects.*
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\AMS\dml_objects.*
    • Agent:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMSData\DML*.*
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMSData\DML*.*

Logs

  • Database type: SQLite, XML files before U0.5;
  • Managed by: Agent/AMS/ASN/Console;
  • Logs are stored in the following places:
    • Acronis Management Server stores logs in AMS Database in SQL Server.
    • Agent:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\LogEvents and Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs;
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\LogEvents and ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs.
    • Acronis Storage Node:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\LogEvents
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\LogEvents
    • Management Console:
      • Windows XP/2003: Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole\Logs
      • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecoveryConsole\Logs

Configuration

Configuration parameters are stored in the registry. Most of the parameters can be changed via Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 user interface, some parameters can also be set via Group Policy.

(!) Parameters set via Group Policy have higher priority.

  • For locally specified parameters:
    • Windows 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis
    • Windows 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis
  • For parameters specified via Group Policy:
