19144: Acronis True Image Home 2011: "Failed to add the backup to the backup list" if the Backup is on a Network Share

The backup destination is either unavailable or this is a password-protected share

Symptoms

An attempt to browse for backup or edit a backup task fails with the following error message:

Failed to add the backup to the backup list

Cause

There are two possible causes:

  • If you are adding a backup to the backup list by browsing for it, then the location of the backup is temporarily unavailable;
  • If you are editing a backup task, then the backup location is probably on a password-protected share and the message is erroneous.

Solution

  • If you are adding a backup to the backup list by browsing for it, then the location of the backup is temporarily unavailable.

    For example, the backup is on an network share and the network is temporarily down.

    Please reattempt the operation, and it should succeed.

  • If you are editing a backup task, then the backup location is probably on a password-protected share and the message is erroneous.

    It is safe to ignore the error message in this case.

The erroneous message on the backup task edit has been fixed and the fix will be available in the next official build of Acronis True Image Home 2011.
