Acronis Backup and Security 2011 cannot be installed over Acronis True Image Home 2010. Please uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2010 before the installation

Introduction

Acronis Backup and Security 2011 cannot be installed over Acronis True Image Home 2010. This is a known limitation.

An attempt to install Acronis Backup and Security 2011 over Acronis True Image Home 2010 will result in the following message:

Installation has failed

Solution

Before you install Acronis Backup and Security 2011, please remove Acronis True Image Home 2010 from the system:

(!) All your Acronis True Image Home 2010 backups and tasks will be preserved and automatically reused in Acronis Backup and Security 2011.

  1. Go to Start -> Control Panel;
  2. Click Uninstall a program in Windows Vista/7 or Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP:
    Windows Vista/7 Windows XP
  3. Select Acronis True Image Home and click Uninstall in Windows Vista/7 or Remove in Windows XP:
    Windows Vista/7 Windows XP

After the product is uninstalled, a reboot may be required, and after the reboot you can install Acronis Backup and Security 2011 as described in Acronis Backup and Security 2011: Installation of a Full Version.

All your Acronis True Image Home 2010 backups and tasks will be preserved and automatically reused in Acronis Backup and Security 2011.
