Virtual machines should have unique UUIDs

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition

Description

The following components of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition detect virtual machines by their Universally Unique Identifier (UUID):

  • Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi (Virtual Appliance)
  • Acrons Management Server with vCenter Integration

This means that each virtual machine must have a unique UUID. If there are several virtual machines with an identical UUID, only the first from these virtual machines will be detected.

More information

Cloning a virtual machine with VMware Lab Manager does not create a new UUID - i.e. the cloned machine will have exactly the same UUID as the original one. Only the original machine will be detected by Acronis Agent for ESX/ESXi.
