What criteria to observe when choosing data destruction method in Acronis Privacy Expert

Description

Your choice should depend on the result you want to achieve. If you do not care about how securely your data is wiped, you can choose the Do Not Wipe option, so information will be deleted, but the freed space will not be wiped at all. Please note that this option allows others to recover this information using special applications.

If you want to wipe the free space after the information is deleted, but you want to do that quickly, you can choose the Fast algorithm that will simply fill the free space with zeros. Now, no one will be able to recover the deleted information easily.

If you want even more reliable data destruction, choose one of the more comprehensive algorithms. They overwrite data several times and thus take more time, but provide greater security. The slowest, but the most trustworthy, is the Peter Gutmann algorithm. It ensures that recovery of the data you wiped is impossible.
