Update Acronis Scheduler and recreate the tasks

Symptoms

1. In Acronis True Image you have scheduled a backup or a validation task;
2. The scheduled tasks fail to run.

Cause

Malfunction of Acronis Scheduler, which is a component of Acronis True Image.

Solution

1. Download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service:

   • Windows 32 bit: scheduler_325x32.zip
   • Windows 64 bit: scheduler_325x64.zip

2. Extract the downloaded file and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service;

   See if the issue is resolved. If it is not, then please proceed with steps 3 and 4:

3. Reboot the machine;
4. Recreate the scheduled tasks.

(!) If you restore a full backup of the machine that has Acronis True Image installed and backup tasks scheduled, you will need to recreate the tasks. Otherwise they will not run. Acronis True Image scheduled tasks refer to hard drives by their NT signatures. When restoring images, Acronis True Image changes those signatures. Hence, the scheduled tasks fail.

If the issue persists, please do the following:

1. Get Windows System Information File;

2. Get Acronis Scheduler Report:

   • Download either the EXE file or ZIP archive;
   • Copy the schedmgr.exe file to the root of your C: drive
   • Click Start -> Run, type in cmd, press OK and issue the following command:

   C:\schedmgr get report >  C:\schedreport.txt 

3. Get Acronis Scheduler Log:

   • Run the schedmgr.exe file by double-clicking it;
   • Enable logging by using the following command:

   set logflags support

   • Reproduce the issue;
   • Acronis Scheduler Log will be named schedul2.log and placed to \Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2 

4. It is recommended to turn off logging after troubleshooting by running schedmgr.exe and issuing the following commands:

   set logflags 0
   set lf_registry on
