How to change a volume's cluster size

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Disk Director 11 Home
  • Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced

Introduction

(!) Acronis Disk Director 11 will not let you change to a particular cluster size if this involves decreasing the free volume space to the point when the data does not fit on the volume.

(!) Some applications do not work correctly with volumes whose file systems have big cluster sizes (e.g. 64 KB in the FAT16 and FAT32 file systems or 8 KB through 64 KB in the NTFS file system).

Solution

  1. Select the volume and click Change cluster size:

  2. Select the cluster size and click OK:

  3. Commit the change:
