Acronis True Image Home 2011 can be removed via Add or Remove programs (Start -> Control Panel) for Windows XP or Program and Features (Start -> Control Panel) for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
If the product fails to be removed using this way, then the special Acronis True Image Home 2011 Cleanup Utility can be used to uninstall it.
Required components
Acronis True Image Home 2011 Cleanup Utility uses one additional component:
DevCon - command-line utility that is an alternative to the Windows Device Manager. This utility is required to remove Acronis traces from Device Manager. Read more in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 311272.
If there is no DevCon in the system, you can download it from Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 311272, and place it in Windows\system32.
(!) For 64-bit operating systems DevCon needs to be copied to Windows\SysWOW64. Or you can just run Acronis True Image Home 2011 Cleanup Utility, and it will offer to remove Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer manually using the steps described in the article Removing Acronis Backup Archive Explorer.
Solution
(!) If you have Windows 7 and Windows integration enabled to substitute the Windows Backup and Restore feature with Acronis True Image Home 2011 backups, please disable the integration in the product first. See Acronis True Image Home 2011: Windows Integration.
(!) If you have other Acronis products installed, the utility will damage their installation.
Please choose to delete all Acronis products from the system - type Y and hit Enter:
If you receive a WinZip message, just click Close:
You will be asked to close Windows Explorer instances since this is necessary to remove the tishell.dll and timounter.dll Acronis files, which interact with explorer.exe - type Y and hit Enter:
You will be also asked to reboot the system to complete the uninstallation. You can reboot the system later:
(!) After using Cleanup Utility, it is strongly recommended not to reboot the machine, go to Start -> Run -> regedit, and verify that there are no snapman*, tdrpman*, timounter strings in the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
If there are, please remove them. Then you can reboot the machine.
