Backing up files or folders

This article describes how to back up files or folders.

Creating a quick file or folder backup:

Start the product and select File backup:
Select what files, folders or file categories to back up:
Click Backup now:

Creating a file or folder backup with options:

Start the product and select File backup:
Select what files or folders to back up:
- Computer - back up files or folders on an internal or external disk or device;
- Network - back up files or folders on a network share. See Acronis True Image Home 2011: Backing Up to Network Share;
- Categories - back up files by their categories:
  
  Click a category to see what file types will be included in the backup. Click Add category to add a custom category.
If necessary, you can exclude certain files or folders by clicking Add next to Exclusions:

This is where you can exclude from backing up hidden files, system files, or files matching your custom criteria.
Destination - select where to save the backup:
- My computer - save the backup to an internal or external disk or device;
- Network - save to a network share. See Acronis True Image Home 2011: Backing Up to Network Share
- FTP connections - save to FTP. See Acronis True Image Home 2011: Backing Up to FTP
This is also where you can specify or customize the file name using variables:

You can also change the backup type (*.tib or *.zip):
To schedule backup creation, click Turn on next to Schedule:

Click Back up now to immediately run the backup or click the down arrow to postpone the backup:

Select Later if you would like to manually start the backup later or if you have scheduled the backup and would like the product to automatically start it in due time:
