Acronis Disk Director 11 Home: Increasing Partition Size

You need to have unallocated space on the disk with the partition the size of which you intend to increase

Introduction

You need to have unallocated space located physically on the disk with the partition the size of which you are going to increase.

If there is no unallocated space on the disk, you will need to shrink a different partition to create unallocated space first. And then increase the desired partition size.

Solution

First, make sure that there is unallocated space on disk with the partition that you want to increase.

Creating unallocated space on disk

Suppose that you want to increase the size of partition E: using free space from partition K:
Since there is no unallocated space, you need to first shrink the partition K:
Right-click on partition K: and select Resize volume:
Shrink the partition K: to create unallocated space. There are several ways to do that:
- by dragging the partition boundaries;
- type the new size in Volume size field or reduce it using the arrows;
- specify the size of unallocated space before or after volume;
Click OK and then Commit pending operations:

When you have unallocated space on disk, you can increase the size of the partition:

Make sure that there is unallocated space on the disk with the partition that you want to increase:
Right-click on the partition that you are going to increase and select Resize volume:
Check the option Append all unallocated disk space to the volume:
Increase the partition to cover unallocated space. There are several ways to do that:
- by dragging the partition boundaries;
- type the new size in Volume size field or reduce it using the arrows;
- specify the size of unallocated space before or after volume;
Click OK and then Commit pending operations:
