10957: Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Keeps Asking for Credentials when Trying to Save an Archive to a Linux Share or on a Linux-Based NAS

(!) This article applies only to Windows editions of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 running on Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2.

Symptoms

  1. You have Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 running on Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2;
  2. You create a backup plan and under Where to back up you select a share on a Linux machine or on a Linux-based NAS;
  3. You get a prompt for credentials, specify correct credentials and click OK;
  4. The same prompt for credentials appears again:

Cause

This is an issue in the product.

Workaround

(!) This has been fixed and the fix is available in the latest build of the product. See Installation of the Latest Update of an Acronis Product.

As a workaround, you can either completely turn off authentication on a share, or use domain-based authentication if there is a domain.
